All of our guided tours are conducted in two-person touring kayaks (typically Necky Amaruks), and are booked by reservation only at least 24 hours in advance. There is usually a four-person minimum to confirm a tour, but please don't hesitate to call if you have fewer than four people; there might be others waiting to join a tour on a given day. There are also discounts for groups of ten or more. Call (530) 544-2011 for more information and reservations.

Emerald Bay Tour
A visit to Lake Tahoe isn’t complete until you have seen this truly gorgeous and unique glacial remnant. But don’t just look down at it from one of the crowded vista points--come experience it from lake level! Join us as we paddle at a leisurely pace exploring the shoreline and observing nesting osprey and soaring bald eagles. We'll circumnavigate the entire bay and land on Fannette Island, if the group is up for it. We are the only kayak outfitter with permission to conduct tours entirely within Emerald Bay. We offer two versions of this tour: the standard tour runs from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. and costs $65; and the extended tour runs from 9 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. and costs $80. The extended version is for those who might want more time to tour the Vikingsholm or just hang out on the beach for a leisurely lunch (not included). The price includes all paddling equipment, a kayaking skills briefing for novices, and a guide. Be sure to bring water, a snack, sunscreen, sunglasses, windbreaker, hat, and shoes that can get wet. There is a third-of-a-mile walk down a steep, sandy trail from the parking area to where the kayaks are kept. The actual paddling distance is 3.75 miles. No previous kayaking experience is required, but the minimum age for this tour is eight years.

Sunset Tour from Timber Cove
Come enjoy the vibrant colors and glassy calm water as another summer day comes to an end on Lake Tahoe. We'll start out paddling into the setting sun, then slowly return to Timber Cove as the alpenglow fades out over the Sierras. This mini-expedition will give you a well-earned appetite. Plan on finishing the evening at one of the great local restaurants in the South Lake Tahoe area. Bring sunglasses and a windbreaker for the evening chill.

Cost: $30.00 per person
Time: approximately 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., depending on the local time of sunset.

Upper Truckee River Tour
The entrance to the largest marsh and river estuary at Lake Tahoe is an easy two-mile paddle from our shop at Timber Cove. First we'll paddle along the south shore of Lake Tahoe and then negotiate the shallow sandbars at the entrance to the Upper Truckee. Then we'll head upstream for about a mile, depending on the current lake level. You’ll have opportunities to observe Caspian terns, Forster's terns, bald eagles, osprey, common mergansers, and a variety of shorebirds and wildflowers as we penetrate into this secluded and protected marshland.

Cost: $45.00
Time: 9 A.M. – 12 P.M.

East Shore Tour
Beautiful rocky coves and hidden sandy beaches (some clothing optional) await you on this tour out of Sand Harbor in the northeast corner of Lake Tahoe. We'll paddle at a leisurely pace enjoying underwater visibility that can exceed fifty feet and then stop for lunch at one of the secluded coves. This is a great tour for people that have already done our Emerald Bay tour or have some previous kayaking experience.

Ten-person minimum for this tour
Cost: $80.00   Time: 9 A.M. – 2 P.M.
