All
of our guided tours are conducted in two-person touring
kayaks (typically Necky Amaruks), and are booked by
reservation only at least 24 hours in advance. There is
usually a four-person minimum to confirm a tour, but please
don't hesitate to call if you have fewer than four people;
there might be others waiting to join a tour on a given day.
There are also discounts for groups of ten or more. Call
(530) 544-2011 for more information and reservations.
Emerald Bay Tour
A visit to Lake
Tahoe isn’t complete until you have seen this
truly gorgeous and unique glacial remnant. But don’t just look down
at it from one of the crowded vista points--come
experience it from lake level! Join us as we paddle at a leisurely
pace exploring the shoreline and observing
nesting osprey and soaring bald eagles. We'll
circumnavigate the entire bay and land on Fannette
Island, if the group is up for it. We are the only
kayak outfitter with permission to conduct tours
entirely within Emerald Bay. We offer two versions of
this tour: the standard tour runs from 9 A.M. to 1
P.M. and costs $65; and the extended tour runs from 9
A.M. to 2:30 P.M. and costs $80. The extended version
is for those who might want more time to tour the Vikingsholm
or just hang out on the beach for a leisurely lunch
(not included). The price includes all paddling
equipment, a kayaking skills briefing for novices, and
a guide. Be sure to bring water, a snack, sunscreen, sunglasses, windbreaker, hat, and
shoes that can get wet. There is a third-of-a-mile
walk down a steep, sandy trail from the parking area
to where the kayaks are kept. The actual paddling
distance is 3.75 miles. No previous kayaking
experience is required, but the minimum age for this
tour is eight years.

Truckee. Then we'll head upstream for about a mile,
depending on the current lake level. Youll
have opportunities to observe Caspian terns, Forster's
terns, bald eagles, osprey, common mergansers, and a variety of
shorebirds and wildflowers as we penetrate into this
secluded and protected marshland.
